About the Powwow
New Native Theatre is proud to present the 5th Annual Reclaiming Our Identities Two Spirit Powwow returning to the Twin Cities in 2026. The Two Spirit Powwow is Minnesota’s only powwow honoring our Native Two Spirit and LGBTQ+ relatives.
This free, family-friendly event brings together over 500 people for a full day of dancing, drumming, regalia, craft vendors, and a community feast. It’s more than a celebration — it’s a sacred space for visibility, culture, and love.

If you are able, stand and remove your hat during Grand Entry and other special songs the emcee identifies, such as flag, veterans, memorial, prayer, or honor songs. -

Treat the arena as a sacred space, not a shortcut. Do not cross or enter it unless the emcee invites everyone in for an intertribal, social, honoring, or blanket dance. -

Call what dancers wear regalia, not costumes. Regalia can carry cultural, spiritual, family, and artistic meaning, and it should never be treated like dress-up. -

Ask before photographing or filming individuals, especially for posed shots. Some songs, prayers, memorials, or specials are not for cameras, so always follow no-photo announcements.

Do not touch regalia, drums, feathers, beadwork, hair, or personal items unless you are invited to do so. Many items are sacred, fragile, handmade, or family heirlooms.
