About the Play

Memengwaa/Butterfly is an Ojibwe-language adaptation of Mariposa/Butterfly by Sandra Fenichel Asher and José Casas. Presented as part of the Minnesota State Fair's Indigenous Peoples Day celebration, this family friendly work celebrates transforming understanding and relationship through the story of a young butterfly.

Featuring Ojibwe language and song, Memengwaa/Butterfly offers audiences of all ages a moving theatrical experience while honoring Indigenous storytelling and culture.
